Ricardo Alonzo Lee, 67, passed away on March 23, 2026. Born on May 28, 1958, Ricardo, fondly known as “Ricky,” was a son, a brother, a friend, and a man of remarkable kindness and sensitivity.
He received his primary education in the Atlanta Public School System. After graduating from Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1976, he began his career in hospitality, which spanned over forty years.
Ricky lived with mental illness for much of his life, a challenge he met with courage, even in his most difficult moments. Those who knew him best saw not just his struggles, but his kindness, and his unique way of seeing the world. He had a hearty laugh and an appreciation for travel.
He will be remembered for his warm heart, and though his journey was not always easy, it was meaningful. He mattered to many and touched many lives in ways that will not be forgotten.
Ricky is survived by a close circle of siblings, nieces, and nephews, some who stood by him through every chapter of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mary Lee, his brother, Alfred Lee, and his sister, Carmaleta Lee Dunlap.
A private service will be held for family and close friends at the home of his sister, Sonya Lee Coggins (WesShante), Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 5:30 P.M. In honor of Ricky’s memory, the family encourages open conversations about mental health, child sexual abuse, and asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to organizations that support mental health and sexual abuse awareness and care.
Ricky’s life reminds us that every person’s story is complex, worthy of empathy and compassion, and that the lives of each of us matter. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
