Elvenia Stokes Hatcher, daughter of the late Charlie and Lucillie Stokes, was born on December 21, 1935, in Quitman, Georgia. After the passing of her mother, she was lovingly raised by Alberta Manning, affectionately known as “Big Mama,” who also preceded her in death. She was the fifth child of eight siblings, many of whom preceded her in death, including Eula, Sarah, Maggie, Liza, Clifford, Robert, Louis. Elvenia received her education through the Brooks County School System.

At a very young age, Elvenia gave her life to Christ and joined St. Matthew Freewill Baptist Church. Elvenia was united in holy matrimony to SFC Frank D. Hatcher Sr., the love of her life. Their union was blessed with four beautiful children: Frank D. Hatcher Jr., the late Elise Hatcher Jackson, the late Teresa L. Frazier, and the late Ellis E. Hatcher. She also lovingly embraced and raised her adopted daughter, Takeitha L. Davis.

Elvenia began her career as a Nutrition Specialist with the Brooks County School System. Later, she discovered her passion for caregiving and began working at Sunset. She eventually became a teacher assistant at UPC, where she faithfully served until her retirement. Elvenia had a special love for children, especially caring for those with special needs. She played a significant role in helping raise her adopted daughter’s six children: Jakeitha, Jahkeem, Jameshia, Jaykeith, Ja’kira, and Jakirria. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, SFC Frank D. Hatcher III, and her great-grandson, Frank D. Hatcher IV.

On March 22, 2026, Elvenia quietly exchanged time here on earth for eternal life with her Heavenly Father.
