On Thursday, April 9, 2026, God came and took our beloved Derek Tyrone Richardson home to
be with him. Derek was born to Barbara A. Richardson and the late John V. Richardson, Sr. on December 7, 1987 in Halifax County, Virginia.

Derek was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church, Boydton, Virginia. Derek was baptized at an early age and he was a faithful member. Derek attended and received his education from the Mecklenburg County Public Schools. He was a 2007 graduate of Bluestone Senior High School, Skipwith, Virginia.

In his down time, Derek loved watching basketball, football and playing games on his play station. He found joy sitting with his mother, Barbara watching Family Feud at night. Derek always wore a smile and his laugh was contagious. He would keep you laughing at all times.

Derek was preceded in death by his father, John V. Richardson, Sr.; brother, John, Jr.; maternal
grandmother, Fannie S. Harris; paternal grandmother, Barbara J. Richardson; six uncles, Walter Evans, Sr., John Harris, Joseph Harris, Jr., James Richardson, Fredrick Richardson and George Richardson.

Derek leaves to cherish his memories; his mother, Barbara Richardson; two brothers, Kevin Richardson of Ashburn, Virginia, Michael (Adrianna) Richardson of South Hill, Virginia; two sisters, Sheleta (Cisco) Crews of Chesterfield, Virginia, Kenyetta (David) Rice of Baskerville, Virginia; three aunts, Fannie Faltz, Gloria Harris both of Courtland, Virginia, Sarah Richardson of Boydton, Virginia; eight uncles, Willie Evans, James Evans both of Alberta, Virginia, Thomas Evans, Randy Richardson, Wendell (Grace) Richardson all of Boydton, Virginia, Albert (Wanda) Richardson, Michael (Gloria) Richardson all of Palmer Springs, Virginia, William (Tammy) Richardson of Fredericksburg, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a special friend, Ladaysha Davis.

On Friday, April 17, 2026 there will be a walk through from 1:00PM until 6:00PM at Carter's Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 11:00AM. Service will be held at the Shiloh Baptist Church; 4549 Phillis Road; Boydton, Virginia with the Reverend Linda B. Goode, presiding and the Reverend Tyrone Craighead delivering the eulogy.
