OPELOUSAS - Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Our Savior’s Church, 202 Our Savior’s Church Blvd., Opelousas, LA for Mrs. Edith Bernard, 70, who entered eternal rest on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Opelousas General Health System in Opelousas, LA. Interment will be at Garden of Memory Cemetery in Opelousas, LA.

Pastor Eugene Reiszner, Pastor of Our Savior’s Church, will be officiating the funeral service.

Mrs. Bernard’s memories are being cherished by: her son, Brandon Ricard of Baton Rouge, LA; one brother, Efferin Lewis of Opelousas, LA; two sisters, Vanessa Lewis and Paula Jackson (Duke), both of Opelousas, LA; five grandchildren, Brandon Bell, Jr., Rushad Fleming-Ricard, Bela Ricard, Torian Mather and Brylee Ricard; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by: her husband, Derek D. Bernard; her parents, Bernard and Constance Elliott Lewis; and sister, Carletta Cioni.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026 from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Our Savior’s Church.
