Mr. Carl Edward Griggs, 67, of Phenix city, AL passed Saturday. April 11, 2026 in Phenix City, AL.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST on Saturday, April 25, 2026 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Apostle Otis Robinson, officiating. Public viewing is 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m EST on the day of service.

Carl Edward Griggs (Smiley) was born on April 6 , 1959, in Columbus, GA. He was the son of the late Curtis Griggs, Sr. and Mary Lee Henry Griggs.
He accepted Christ at an early age at the Antioch Baptist Church in Fort Mitchell, AL. He later joined Foundation Point Church in Phenix City, AL under Apostle Otis Robinson, Jr. He attended Chavala High School in Seale, AL and while there, he was the quarterback for the Wildcats football team. Carl worked at Dolly Madison/Hostess until his health began to fail.

During his battle. His brother Clarence Thompson was there for every doctor's appointment. His cousin, Morris Griggs, came by every opportunity he could to assist in whatever was needed. I say, "THANK YOU!!!!"

Carl moved to his new home on April 11, 2026. Where there is no more pain, no more suffering!

He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Griggs, Sr., his sister, Ida Mae Griggs and a brother, Larry Thompson.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 15 years, Elder Jacqueline Thompson-Griggs; mother, Mary Griggs Parker; two sons, Travis Grier and Detrick Thompson (Paulisha); daughter, Latesa Thompson; three sisters, Idelia Griggs, Mary
Thompson and Judy Wrespress; six brothers, Curtis Griggs, Jr., Vincent Griggs (Mel), Don Griggs, Richard Thompson, Clarence Thompson and Christopher Thompson; eight grandchildren, PFC Jaques Thompson, Jacklynn Thompson, Jamyiah Thompson, Jakayla Thompson, Javon Thompson, Love Thompson, Emmanuel Thompson, and Grace Thompson, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
