West Gadsden - Announces the passing of Mr. Antonio Shropshire, 48, of Gadsden, AL. He passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at his residence. Mr. Shropshire is survived by his loving family. We ask that you keep this family in your thoughts and prayers during their time of bereavement.

Funeral Service will be 12 noon Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Mission Baptist Church. Internment Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Turkey town Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Grady E. Robinson, Jr., Eulogist.
Antonio Kenneth Shropshire was born on January 29, 1978, to the late Thomas and Andrea Shropshire in Gadsden, Alabama. He was educated in the Gadsden City School system and graduated from Gaston High School. He was selected as the Salutatorian of this graduating class, and he took that honor very seriously. He then enrolled at Gadsden City Community College and later transferred to Jacksonville State College for three years. Upon graduating college, he then joined the United States Air Force and continued his education. Tony became an Aerospace Medical Technician, a Medical Laboratory Technician and an Imagery Analyst and served in those fields from 2001 through2009. In addition, he served as a Medical Emergency Technician and as a Flight Medic. He received many medals, ribbons and special honors including an Air Force Training Ribbon, Air Force Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, National Defense Service Medal, an Expert (Rifle) Marksmanship Ribbon, Air Reserve Meritorious Service Medal w/2 devices honor and many more. Also, he attended the Airman Leadership School, and served on the Support of Operation Noble Eagle/Enduring Freedom Team and numerous other teams. After serving his country and obtaining an Honorable Discharge, he returned home. Upon his return, he married the love of his life, Nicole. To this union, two children were born. Tony was gainfully employed at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. He had an Internship as a Pharmacy Technician with Dr. Raheem at Gregerson’s Pharmacy. He worked at First Care Medical with Dr. Akinsanya, and The Lab in Birmingham, Alabama. Tony loved guns, sports, rap music, and Maxim magazines. Equally, he would listen to Out-Kast, Goodie Mob, and Donny Hathaway. When he was younger, he loved numerous PlaySation games, but as he aged, he was more interested in different kinds of documentaries. He loved learning and knowing about different things. He was usually the most intelligent person in the room. Lastly, Tony was most passionate about his children, Kayla and Aamere. He wanted them to live happy, complete and full lives. He loved his family with his whole heart.
