Ernest “Man” Powell was born on November 27, 1940 in Quitman, Georgia to the late Mr. Predty and Josephine Powell. He passed away from this earthly life on April 11, 2026. He was one of the eleven children born to that union. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Ernestine Perkins, Rosa Lee Smith, Eva Miles, Rosa McWhite, Lillie Queen Franklin, Eddie Lee Powell, Willie Powell, and Eugene Powell.
Ernest was a hard working mechanic who enjoyed life, family, and cars. Dancing was his thing. He always cut the rug when he heard those downhome blues. He had so much love for the little babies. Chase, Tony, David, Damontae, and Eric were all his little best friends. However, Kd was his helper and partner in crime. He loved to ride. He never missed a trip to Valdosta, and was always trying to hold down the front seat. He attended Liberty Missionary Baptist Church, until his health began to fail. Ernest touched many lives through fixing cars or just being a friend when needed. He will truly be missed by many.
Ernest leaves to cherish his memories to his sisters: Earline Jackson, Gladys Cuffee, Ruby Clinton of Norfolk, Virginia, Geraldine Murray (Mathew) of Orlando, Florida, and Ella Hayes (Willie) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. One brother: Cleveland Powell (Debra) of Columbus, Georgia. A special friend, Robert James Rose.
