Simmie Frank Jackson, Jr. was born November 2, 1959 to Simmie Frank Jackson, Sr. and Onna Mae Rhym.

He departed this life on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, FL in the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He retired from the United States Marine Corps on September 30, 2002 after 25 years of faithful service. He graduated from Park University in 2003 with an Accounting degree. He was a dedicated employee of Brooks County School System for over 20 years. He was a faithful member of New Macedonia Baptist Church for over 50 years. He has left behind a legacy for many to follow; but for some, the shoes will be too big. He received a directive from his father “take care of the family” and he did his job. Well done!

A proud Marine, veteran, father, coach, friend, mentor, advocate, the list goes on, he lived a life marked by strength, love, and unwavering devotion to his family. He was known for his discipline, wisdom, humor, kindness, and faith. He had a special way of making people feel seen, loved, protected, and inspired. Whether through specific memories, storytelling, mentoring, cooking, joking, and working hard, he left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Captain Jackson had a deep devotion and commitment to the growth and development of the youth in his community. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He had an extensive knowledge of livestock and agriculture. He was passionate about athletics. One of the highlights of his life was his association with the Brooks County Trojans.


He was preceded in death by his parents Onna and Simmie Frank Jackson, Sr., his sister Diane Smith and his daughter Kyrie Tadlock-Jackson. Simmie Frank Jackson, Jr. leaves to cherish his memories three children Tiphany Jackson, Darren Banks (step-son), and Kyanna Jackson. Grandchildren: Paris Jackson, Tamara Grier, Madeline Banks, Marley Jackson, Promise Gibson and Sunshyne Estrada. His siblings: Linda Troutman, Brenda Jackson, Vivian Jackson, Gail Brown (Rufus), Ann Reynolds (Bobby), Robin Jackson and Darryl Jackson (Monica). Nephews and Nieces: William (Marrisa), Kimberly, Shanda, Taffeney, Tabitha, Shannon, Tomica, Earnest Jr., Jason, Travis, Keren (Joe), Stefanie (Carl), Andy, Joseph, Corey, Krystal, Andrew, Deshe, Brandon, Courtney, DeAndra, Darrell and Todd. Great nephews and nieces: Effaney, Fabian, Jordan, Zyanna, Lania, Amara, Davyon, Jolie, Mya, Jackson, Daniel, TreMari, Tristan, Eli, Traveon, Tremayne, Melanie, Joseph Jr, Caden, Emma, Zuri, Camille, Chase, Cannon, Tanner, Braylon and Bryson. Uncle and Aunt: Ora Lee Rhym, Ronald Rhym. Also, a host of beloved cousins, loyal friends and his adopted Brooks County School System Family. He will be truly missed by his United States Marine Corps comrades. Forever, our hero.

Funeral services were Sunday, April 19, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Performing Arts Center in Quitman, Georgia with Pastor William Showers officiating. Military burial followed at New Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Morven, Georgia.
