Mrs. Mamie L. Jacobs peacefully entered eternal rest on April 20, 2026. She was born on June 19, 1952, in Maxton, NC, to the late Lacy Billings, Sr., and Sallie Mae Billings.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Lacy Billing, Jr., Howard Billings, Addie Billings, and Clinton Billings.
Mamie was a proud graduate of Piedmont Community College, which sparked her journey in the medical field. Her career expanded in several locations, including Glen Cove, Durham, NC, and High Point, NC. Throughout her career, she worked diligently and received numerous merits of recognition for outstanding performance from the Carolina Cardiology Association, Duke University, and High Point Regional Hospital. Additionally, in addition to her professional achievement, she was an active member of Williams Memorial CME Church, where she joyfully served others.
Her work reflected her compassionate spirit and sincere concern for others. Even after her retirement in 2015, she continued to pursue her heart's passion.
She was married to James Jacobs for 32 years and has one son, Calvin Boykins, who lives in Raleigh, NC.
Mamie was known for her compassion, nurturing, selflessness, kindhearted, and deeply concerned about people's well-being. She was also known for her great sense of humor and her love for plants. She found joy in gardening, decorating, drawing, cooking, and celebrating with family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her stepchildren whom she treated as her own: Valerie Mitchell (Gregory Sr.), Pamela Douglas, Wanda Jacobs, Tamara Stewart, James Jacobs, II (Tasha), Mario Jacobs (Maggie); her sisters-in-law, Doretha Bethea (Benjamin) Sallie Ann McPhaul (Danny); sixteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a loving host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold her memories close to their hearts.
Funeral service will be held Monday, April 27, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. at Williams Memorial CME Church, 3400 Triangle Lake Road. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 p.m. until 12:30 p.m.
