Johnny Bell "JB" Thomas
Funeral service for Johnny Bell Thomas 77, "J B" will be Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 1 pm at the Refuge Full Gospel Methodist Church with Rev. Jerrell Hicks, officiating and Pastor Rodriquez Reynolds, Sr., eulogist. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Forestlawn Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Thomas passed away on April 11, 2026. Mr. Thomas' remains will arrive at the church one hour prior to his service.
Johnny, a native of Anniston, AL. Joined the United States Marine Corps after graduating from Cobb High School in 1967. He proudly served in the Marine Corps, where he fought valiantly during the Vietnam War. His bravery and dedication were recognized with numerous awards, including The Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged, after serving his country with great distinction.
Following his military service, Mr. Thomas pursued a successful career as an entrepreneur, owning several businesses. He was a very smart person, a man that carved his own path in the world and a man that accomplished any task that was put before him. He was a member of Gaines Chapel AME Church.
Survivors include his loving children: Johnny Bell Jr. Walker, Roderick (Daisey) Lemon, Jermaine Christopher, Ashley Mackey, and Torrey Mackey; his siblings; Mattie (Jefhro) Cody, Peggy Sauders, Joanne Rhodes, Richard Thomas, and Sarah Francine Reynolds; 18 grandchildren, devoted, Roderick Lemons Jr., a host of great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends, and a longtime dear friend, Gaynell Reed. He was preceded in death by his parents; Mr. Roosevelt and Sarah Thomas; his grandparents; Roger Winbush, Mattie and Darcy Hall, Willie and Elizabeth Butts, his grandsons; Trammell McFadden and TJ Safford, and nephew; Watonabe Cody.
