TYLER----Funeral services for Mr. Billy Kennedy, 87, are scheduled for 12 noon, April 25, 2026 at St. Violet Baptist Church with Rev. James Webb, host pastor and Rev. Marcus Jackson, eulogist. Burial will be in Kilgore Memorial Gardens under direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Company.

Mr. Kennedy was born July 5, 1938 in Gregg County and transitioned on April 14, 2026. He was a graduate of Arp High School, worked in the construction business and member of St. Violet Baptist Church.

He served as chairman of the deacon board for forty years, member of the choir, sunday school superintendent and managed the upkeep of the church.

Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by parents, son, Eric D. Kennedy, granddaughter, Cayliy Haygood, one sister and seven brothers. He is survived by spouse, Evelyn Kennedy of Tyler, Texas, sons: Bryant Kennedy (Cynthia) and Nicholas Kennedy (Roselyn) both of Dallas, Texas; daughter:Lakeidra Haygood (Pernell) of Maryland, brothers: Leonard Kennedy and Burford Kennedy both of Tyler; sister: Vergie Myles, Barbara Hall (Johnny) and Debra Tate (Dennis) all of Tyler, Texas; six grand and three great-grandchildren.

Public viewing will be Friday, April 24, 2026 from 2 pm to 8 pm at the funeral home.
