John Henry Hill III, affectionately known as Skipper to those who loved him, was born on December 12, 1951, in Youngstown, Ohio. He quietly passed away on April 19, 2026, at his residence, leaving behind a legacy of strength, love, and cherished memories. John’s life was a testament to the power of simplicity, a life spent in the embrace of nature, deeply enjoying fishing, working with his hands, and passionately supporting his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers.
John leaves to carry on his spirit his devoted wife, Diane Glover; beloved daughter, LaTraille Glover-Hill; son, Curtis J. Hill; and treasured grandchildren, Janiqua A. Hill and Jazmine M. Hill. John also leaves behind his brother, Edward R. Hill; great-grandchildren, Joshua A. Purdie Jr. and Tah'Jae Milan Davis; brothers-in-law, Ricky Ferguson and Robert Price; and a myriad host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who held him dear.
John is preceded in death by beloved mother, Viola M. Hill; father, John Hill Jr.; cherished sisters, Annie E. Baskins (Hill) and Linda M. Price; and nephew, Damnion J. Hill. As we remember John, we reflect on the simple joys of life he cherished and the many ways he touched our hearts. His spirit will remain alive in us as we carry forward his legacy of love and laughter.
A 10:00 AM public viewing will take place on Tuesday April 28, 2026, in the chapel of the J E Washington Funeral Home, 2234 Glenwood Ave, in Youngstown, Ohio. The family and friends will gather to honor John’s life at a funeral service scheduled for 11:00 AM with Minister Ricky Ferguson of the Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church of Cleveland officiating. After a committal ceremony, John will be laid to rest at the serene estates of Tod Homestead Cemetery.
