Donnie McGruder of Louisville, Georgia, peacefully entered eternal rest on April 27, 2026, at Wellstar Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. He was born on November 1, 1966, to the late Bobby McGruder and Laura Mae Williams McGruder. At the time of his passing, he was 59 years old.
A Celebration of Life Service honoring Donnie’s life and legacy will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. at the James and Virginia Davis Memorial Chapel. The Reverend Dr. David Kemp will serve as the eulogist, bringing words of comfort and reflection to all who gather in his memory. Burial will be held at Benevolent Chour Society Cemetery, West 8th Street, Louisville, Ga.
Public Viewing will be held, Friday, May 1, 2026, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home
Donnie was a dedicated and hardworking individual who was employed at Battle Lumber Company, where he served as a Machine Operator in the Lumber Finishing Division. He took pride in his work and was respected by his colleagues for his commitment and reliability.
Outside of his professional life, Donnie found great joy in the simple pleasures that brought people together. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially playing cards, sharing laughter, and enjoying his favorite television shows, including Judge Judy. Known for his warm spirit and sense of humor, Donnie had a special way of making others smile and lifting the mood of any room he entered.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents and his siblings: Michael Cunningham, Johnnie McGruder, David Cordy, Ralph McGruder, Carolyn Coleman, and Bobbie Jean McGruder.
Donnie leaves to cherish his memory of a loving and devoted family. He is survived by his brother, Joby (Diane) Farmer of Wadley, Georgia; and his sisters, Bobbie N. Scott of Stapleton, Georgia, Bettie (David) Ruff of Milledgeville, Georgia, Patricia (Lenwood) Jackson of Louisville, Georgia, and Dora McGruder of Augusta, Georgia. He also leaves behind his uncle, Thomas (Johnnie) Williams of Gainesville, Florida; and a host of nieces and nephews including Krystal Boyd of Wrens, Georgia; Aurdia (Kalvin) Johnson of Warrenton, Georgia; Erica McGruder of Hephzibah, Georgia; Willie (Telishia) McGruder of Wrens, Georgia; Chaka McGruder of Macon, Georgia; Willie (Tiny) Tarver of Wadley, Georgia; Patrick Tarver of Las Vegas, Nevada; Lisa Tarver of Augusta, Georgia; Andrew Tarver Jr. of Augusta, Georgia; and LaKeisha Young of Gainesville, Florida.
He also shared close bonds with special friends Judson Way and Lamar (Lillie) Dixon, both of Louisville, Georgia, along with a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Donnie’s life was a testament to love, laughter, and resilience. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
