OPELOUSAS – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA for Mr. Joseph P. Kelly, affectionately known by his family and friends as “Penny”, 69, who entered eternal rest on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at his residence in Opelousas, LA.

Fr. Joshua Munterim, SVD will be officiating the funeral mass.

Mr. Kelly’s memories are being cherished by: his wife, Pamela Jason Kelly of Opelousas, LA; two sons, Shai (Keyondria) of Lafayette, LA and Desmond Jason of Opelousas, LA; two daughters, Shannice Kelly (Joseph) and Kayonta Coleman, both of Opelousas, LA; two brothers, Carl Kelly of Tennessee and Jerome (Debbie) Kelly of Houston, TX; four sisters, Charlene Savoy, Lutricia Savoy, Carliss Garrick (Hubert), all of Church Point, LA and Sonya Mothershed (Spaesia) of Houston, TX; two special sons and daughter, Tony Milton, Christopher D. Ford and Dr. Rashonda Dean; twelve grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Eleanor Kelly and Preston Minix and two sisters, Mary P. Kelly and Pricilla Citizen.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m.
