Mr. Anthony Cleveland Ussery, 63, passed away on May 4, 2026. He was born on April 15, 1963, to the late Grover Cleveland Ussery and Eva Mae Haynes Ussery.
Anthony grew up in Lawndale and attended Burns High School. He was known for his gift for storytelling and his ability to live life on his own terms.
Although Anthony had a strong and commanding presence, those who knew him best remember his gentle and kind spirit. He was well-mannered, friendly, and respectful to everyone he encountered. He had a creative mind and a natural talent for art. Music was one of his greatest joys. He could often be found with his headphones on, lost in music; or focused on a drawing, bringing his thoughts and imagination to life on paper.
He leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Catherine Gaston and husband Steven; his brother, Ronnie Ussery; and a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Anthony’s life was greatly enriched by the friendships and care he received from his peers and support workers at One on One Care, where he resided for over 23 years. The bonds he formed there will be treasured always.
Anthony held a quiet faith, and his family finds comfort in knowing he is now at peace. As shared by a loved one, “His mother and father were waiting to welcome him at the pearly gates of Heaven.”
A private service will be held for family and caregivers.
The family extends sincere appreciation to Enloe Mortuary for their compassionate care and support during this time.
