Emma L. Martin, age 90, of Carver Road, Martinsville, Virginia, peacefully departed this life on May 7, 2026, at her residence. Born on December 31, 1935, in Ridgeway, Virginia, Emma was the beloved daughter of the late Sam Henry Martin, Jr. and Esther Harris Martin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas (Mary) Martin and Henry Clay Martin.
A kind and loving woman of deep faith, Emma was a dedicated member of High Street Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as part of the choir. Emma was a proud graduate of Elkhorn High School in Bluefield, West Virginia. She went on to have a career with DuPont, from which she retired after many years of dedicated service.
Emma was a devoted mother, proud grandmother, family matriarch, and friend to many. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Sandra Luvene Martin of Martinsville, Virginia, and her beloved granddaughter, Tasha Martin Johnson, grandson-in-love Randy Johnson of Washington, D.C; and host of other family members and friends.
She will be remembered for her gentle loving spirit, unwavering love for her family, and her faith. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy will always live on in the hearts of those she touched.
A visitation service will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, Virginia. The interment will be private.
