Lorenza Lafray "Renny" Smith

Funeral service for Lorenza Lafray Smith 65, "Renny", will be Saturday, May 9, 2026 at noon at the Mount Olive Baptist Church where Pastor Ronnie C. Beavers, officiating, and Rev, Kyser Whatley, eulogist.

Mr. Smith passed away on April 23, 2026 at UAB Hospital. Mr. Smith's remains will arrive at the church one hour prior to his service. He graduated from Anniston High School Class of 1978, Lorenza began a career in manufacturing as a quality control inspector at Lee Brass Company. He also worked as a professional painter. Lorenza was a part of the South Anniston Social and Savings Club (SASS). He had a passion for driving and became a long-haul trucker. His career in trucking showed his dedication to hard work. In 2025, he retired from trucking after spending almost 40 years driving for several trucking companies.

He accepted Christ at Mount Olive Baptist Church, Lorenza served in the Music Ministry and was a member of the Brotherhood Choir.

Survivors include his daughter: Alexis Garrett; son: Lorenza Smith Jr,; grandchildren: Jarell King, Quinton King; great granddaughter: Aubrey King; his siblings: Fronzetta Sutton, Terry Johnson, Anita Smith (Henry Burton), April (Rickey) Briskey, Kirk Smith, Ray (Virginia) Smith; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins; bonus child/great grandchildren: Domonique, Avion, Amazi; and other relatives; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Earl Smith and Doris Jean Woods and brother, Reginald Smith.
