Obituary For James Thorpe, Jr.

James Juan Thorpe, Jr., 57, of Harrisburg transitioned into eternal life on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital. He was born in Harrisburg, son of James J. Thorpe, Sr. and the late Carol W. Courts Thomas, a graduate of Susquehanna Township High School and VoTech School of Carpentry, a U. S. Army Veteran, an Antique Dealer and owner of 2nd Hand Store in Lebanon, Prince Hall Mason and Shriner. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his sister, Shelly Burden and leaves to celebrate his life, his father, James J. Thorpe, Sr.; his step-mother, Esther Thorpe of Upper Chichester, PA; his sister, Bethany Moses of Harrisburg; his brother, Todd Small of Atlanta, GA; his special aunt, Debra Thorpe; four nephews and a host of cousins and friends. James' life will be celebrated on Saturday, March 2 with a viewing and visitation at 11 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton and burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
