Obituary For John Kevin Yarborough

John Kevin Yarborough, 53, of Durham, NC passed away Wednesday, February, 27, 2019, at Duke University Hospital. He was born May 16, 1965 to Susie E. Pullam and the late John E. Yarborough. A graduate of Northern High School, John later attend DeVry University.

He was married to his loving wife Thomasine Jones Yarborough for 26 years. He was a very generous giver who dearly loved his family and friends. He loved sports - watching ACC games (especially UNC), cooking, and helping others.

John was a dedicated mail carrier for over 20 years.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, March 8, at Hyco Zion Baptist Church, 996 Concord Church Rd., Roxboro, NC. Visitation at 11:00 am, and service is at 12 noon. Repass immediately following service at the church. Interment will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, Durham, NC.

John was a great godfather to me (as well as a cousin and “uncle”) Him & my mother grew up like brother and sister. He always taught me to ALWAYS get up when life knocks me down. He told me always reach for the stars and to NEVER stop following my dreams. I’ll miss you dearly <3 Love, Dontra’na

John was not just my 1st cousin, he was my big brother. One of the first Men that I loved. I knew from the moment I found out I was pregnant with Dontra'na that he and Thomasine had to be her Godparents. He had so much love for his family! He was a dedicated Man to his wife and his job. He meant the world to me! John rest easy and I'll see you when I get there!!

John was an excellent mail carrier and loved his job. I looked forward to listening to his stories and jokes. He loved his wife by the many times he spoke of her lovingly. John was one of the very first people I met when I moved to Durham. I am crushed that my dear friend has passed. For 30 years we lived and laughed I loved John and he will truly be missed. To Thomasina and family and friends I am so sorry for your loss and may God watch over you all in this time of sorrow.
