Bernard’s Family Funeral Care, The Madison Chapel, announces with heartfelt sympathy the passing of Mr. Walter Johnson of Madison, Georgia. Mr. Johnson passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 16, 2026, surrounded by the love and comfort of family.

Viewing and visitation for Mr. Walter will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Bernard’s Family Funeral Care, The Madison Chapel, located at 1086 Ward Road, Madison, Georgia 30650.

In place of Flowers, the family has requested donations be made to two sources: In Memory of Walter J. Johnson, Sr., check or Money Order mailed to Pearl Burney Alumni Museum, P.O. Box 1329, Madison, Georgia 30650, or In Memory of Walter J. Johnson, Sr. , check or Money order mailed to Springfield Baptist Church, 2050 Bethany Church Road, Madison, Georgia 30650.

A Celebration of Life honoring Mr. Walter will be held Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, 2050 Bethany Church Road, Madison, Georgia 30650. Mr. Walter will lie in state one hour prior to the service beginning at 12:00 noon.

Interment, committal services, and the Air Force Flag Presentation will follow in the Springfield Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
