Mrs. Corliss Felicia Coverdell was born in Jacksonville, Florida to Arlene McLaurin and the Reverend Henry L. Smith on July 22, 1954.
Mrs. Coverdell was a woman of deep faith, love, and service. She shared her joy through music, worship, and devotion to others. She was a proud graduate of Edward Waters University. Mrs. Coverdell was a high school science teacher and a proud member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
After relocating to Marianna, Florida, she became a devoted member of New Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. She transitioned to be with the Lord on May 3, 2026.
A Memorial Celebration will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11 AM from the sanctuary of the New Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church located at 2870 Barnes Street in Marianna, Florida 32448 where the pastor is the Reverend G.E. Gathers.
Interment will be in the Orange Hill Cemetery in Marianna, Florida.
She leaves to celebrate her lasting memories a loving and devoted family:
Two Sons: Craig Clayton, II and Jason Clayton (Desiree)
Grandchildren: Alison, Ralyn, Jackson, Jaise-Paul, and Jalil
Siblings: Gail English, Henry L. Smith, Jr., and Gerald Smith
Cousin: LaRose Lovett
And a host of nieces, nephews, friends, former students, Sorors, and church family.
