Jeffrey E. Hawkins-Childs, the son of the late Louis H Childs and the late Elaine L. Hawkins-Childs, was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Jeffery graduated from the Steelton-Highspire School in 1981, after graduation he attended Shippensburg University. After graduating from Shippensburg University, he attended HACC where he received his associate's degree in arts in Computer Information Systems. He also attended Immaculata University, Immaculata, PA. Which he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Information Technology in Business.

During his working career, He was employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania State Police as an Information Technology Technician.

His Military career started with the United States Army Reserve 3rd/42nd Field Artillery Unit from 1986 to1990. He then transferred to the Pennsylvania Air National Guard 193rd Special Operation Wing, Middletown, PA. From 1990 until his retirement in 2014. He was called to active duty from March 2003 to Sept 2003 to support Operation Noble Enduring Freedom. In total, he has a total of 28 years of service.

Jeffrey was a member of Club 320 and also a member of American Legion POST 420. He enjoyed reading, playing basketball, and watching his Philadelphia Eagles on TV; he also was an avid Steel-High Roller Fan. He always looked forward to going on his trips to the MEAC and AFRAM.

He passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, at the age of 62. In addition to his parent, he was preceded in death by his sister, Theresa A. Childs Mc Duffie; his brother, Marc T. Hawkins -Childs and a niece, Alysse (Childs) Saucedo. He is survived by his sister, Kelli Childs; his aunt, Carrie Hawkins; his nephews, Frederick McDuffie, Jr. and Louis Hunter Brown; his nieces, Monica McDuffie, Sharay Childs (curly top) and Ilaynna Brown, a sister-in-law, Theresa D. Childs; a host of family and friends and Special friends, he considered brothers, John Johnson, Michael Rucker, Alex Williams, Darry| Christian and Jon Hibner and a very Special friend, Pam Crowner. Jeffrey had many family and friends who he loved spending time with; he will truly be missed.

His life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026 in the Chapel of the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton with viewing and visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and burial in William Howard Day Cemetery.
