Gloria Joyce Howard

12/27/1939 - 05/29/2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mother Gloria J. Howard.

Mother Gloria Joyce Howard, 86, passed away peacefully in Tallahassee, Florida. Graveside service will be 10 AM, Friday, June 12, 2026.

Gloria Joyce Howard's life was beautiful reflection of faith, wisdom, service, and love. As a former teacher, devoted woman of faith, and beloved member of her community, her influence reached far beyond a single moment or place.

Gloria was born December 27, 1939, to the late James and Ossie M. Howard in Orlando, Florida.

For 35 year, Gloria dedicated her life to educating the young minds of the Orange County Public School system.

Gloria later relocated to Tallahassee, Florida, where she quickly embraced her new community and joined New Zion P.B. Church, under the pastoral leadership of Elder F.R. Rush. She was later appointed to the New Zion Mother's Board, where she served faithfully as Vice Chair. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens Ministry.

Mother Howard enjoyed watching the youth participate in various religious programs and took great joy in supporting the mission of the church.

She leaves to cherish her memory her godchildren, Vanessa, Pam, Natalie, and Boris hall; her best friend, Dorothy Moore and a host of family and friends.

On behalf of the staff and management of Strong & Jones Funeral Home, Inc., we would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Mrs. Gloria J. Howard.
