Obituary For Dillian Douglas Carridice

Obituary Dillian Douglas Carridice was born in St. Toolies District in Manchester, Jamaica on April 30th, 1948 to the late Estella Brown-Carridice and Enos Carridice. Dillian attended St. Jago All Age School where he received his early elementary education. As customary in those days the older child would often stay home to help with the younger children which shortened his length of stay in school. Dillian was baptized at an early age in St. Toolies Seventh-day Adventist Church. Dillian extended his kindness to his neighbors and friends in Jamaica and whenever anyone needed help in fixing a fence, tiling a floor, or building a house he would be called upon. Dillian has always been a hard worker. He worked in construction until his passion for a better life afforded him the opportunity to go on the Farmwork Program in the 1970’s. He continued with the program until he became a resident of the United States in 1980. Dillian resided in Fort Lauderdale, Florida throughout the remaining days of his life. Dillian’s passion and purpose in life was to continue with construction. Construction became his path to livelihood until he could no longer work. Dillian enjoyed socializing with his friends by playing dominoes and talking about drinking various kinds of herbs (“bush tea”) and tonics for healthy living. Dillian had hypertension and diabetes for many years. After years of dealing with this illness on May 7th, 2018 he had a stroke which resulted in an extended hospital stay and a direct transition into the Pompano Rehabilitation Center. During his stay there he had two more hospitalizations and a few falls due to muscle weakness and his persistent desire to walk again. Dillian’s final months were peaceful. Dillian’s long battle with hypertension and diabetes came to an end on Monday February 25th, 2019 he went to sleep and peacefully took his last breath. Dillian’s sudden illness and subsequent death has left his family in mourning. Although, his earthly life has ended, the many memories we have of him keep him alive in our hearts. Those left to remember Dillian’s legacy are his children, Erica (Kevin), Barbara, Christopher, Marvalin, Carlene “Amoy (Ashney) and Rochelle. Twenty grandchildren, two great-grand- children, six sisters, four brothers, many relatives and friends.
