Obituary For Essie Mae Holly

Obituary Essie Mae Johnson-Holly, a soldier in God's Army received her greatest reward on March 9, 2019. A native of Indianola, Mississippi, she graduated from Gentry High School, class of 1968. After high school she worked as a nurses assistant at Sunflower County Hospital. She moved on to Queens, New York where she met and married the love of her life Asbury Holly, Jr., July 11, 1972, whom moved her to Fort Lauderdale, FL in 1979, which is where she resided until her sunset. Essie Mae earned her Certified Nurses Assistant license shortly after moving to Florida. She worked as a nurse assistant at Golden Gate Nursing Home for several years, then moved on to work for the Visiting Nurses Association, where she cared for and touched many lives. In 1998 she moved on to work for the Broward County School Board as a Cashier in New River School Cafeteria, she retired after 15 years of service in 2013. This beautiful servant of God rededicated her life to Jesus Christ, her personal Lord and Savior in 1985. She served the Lord under Elder Frank Mobley for several years and eventually she moved on to True Holiness United Church of God under Pastor Robertson where she was a faithful choir member and Usher. Finally she settled into Greater Love United Church of God, FL under Pastor Jessie L. Roberts and Bishop J. L. Williams where she became an ordained Minister and Missionary. "Hurricane Holly" as she is affectionately called by her beloved church family, served as a Sunday School Teacher, in the National Choir and on National Choir and Usher Member and Vice President of the Missionary Board at Greater Love . Essie Mae was preceded in death by her husband Asbury Holly, Jr.; grandson: Jevon Holly; dad and mom Charlie and Eddie Mae Johnson; brothers: Charlie, J.W. and Harry; sister-in-law: Patricia Ann Johnson. Her memories will be forever cherished by her loving children; Bernadette Holly Hadnot, Patricia Ann Holly, David Lee Holly, Anthony Lee Holly; grandchildren: Angelo M. Hadnot III, Shaniah Holly, Antanesia Holly, Isaac Holly, Jasmine Holly and Adonis Holly; sister: Bessie and Willie Merene of Chesapeake, VA; brother: Aaron Johnson of Orlando, FL; auntie: Bessie Stephen of Los Angeles, CA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
