Mr. Dontae Adam Bunche of Burien, Washington entered into rest on June 3, 2026.

Airborne Ranger Sergeant Dontae Adam Bunche, a beloved son, brother, partner, and friend, earned his new wings and transitioned to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 10:35 a.m.

He leaves behind a legacy defined by resilience, profound generosity, and an unwavering strength of character. Dontae was born on December 12, 1988, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to his proud parents, Bill
(BJ) and Caroline (Rea) Bunche. Growing up with a passion for athletics, he graduated from Bearden High School, where his love for football truly shined.

He went on to play college football at Carson-Newman University and participated in several football combine camps before answering a higher call to serve his country. Dontae enlisted in the United States Army on October 1, 2013, and proudly reenlisted on October 14, 2016. He achieved the rank of Sergeant (E-6) as an elite Airborne Ranger.

His military career was a testament to his discipline, bravery, and deep commitment to protecting others.
Beyond his military achievements, Dontae had a rare gift for making everyone feel seen and valued.

Whether through his warm smile, his quick wit, or his readiness to help anyone in need, he touched countless lives. He was known for his strong work ethic, fierce loyalty, and the way he showed up wholeheartedly for the people he loved. He cherished every moment spent with his family, his girlfriend, his close friends, and his coworkers. His vibrant presence filled every room with energy, and his absence leaves a space that can never be filled. Though he left this world too soon, Dontae’s life was a masterclass in perseverance and heart. The impact he made will live on forever in the stories shared and the memories held close by those who loved him.

Dontae is survived by his loving parents, Bill Bunche (Bj), Caroline Bunche; siblings, Ladreama, China, India, Charleston, Angel, and Tyler; nieces and nephews, Montasia, Charlie, Skyler, Nyla, Ala, Antonio, Marcus Jr., Nash, Maison, and Amidas; and great-niece, Azylnn. He also leaves behind his devoted girlfriend, Blessing Leupolu, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, brothers-in-arms, and close friends.

He was reunited in eternity with those who preceded him in death: grandmothers, Betty Bunche and Grace Wade; grandfather, George Wade; great-grandfather, Leroy Bunche; great-grandmother, Mary Lee Shazor of Vienna, Virginia. Sergeant Dontae Adam Bunche will be laid to rest with full military honors at the Georgia National VA Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
