Thomas Ray Yearwood, Sr.

Thomas (affectionately called Tom or Tommy) of Roxboro, NC died after an extended illness on Friday, May 29, 2026 at Duke Hospice Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, North Carolina.

Tom retired from Eastern Airlines and Southern States Coop in Creedmoor, North Carolina.

He loved to work on his horse farm and was so proud of his Paso Fino Horses. He and his wife loved showing the horses for many years and made many friends during those times. His favorite horse was Polvorin Eleqante, a stallion that he rode and showed on many occasions.

Tom was of the Christian faith and had been a member of Tally Ho Baptist Church in Stem, North Carolina before moving to Roxboro. He loved old Christian hymns and his Heavenly Father.

He is survived by his wife, Susan “Sue” Yearwood; his sons, Ray Yearwood (Joann) of Rougemont, NC and David Yearwood of High Point, NC; stepson, Michael “Doug” Wilson (Simone) of Roxboro, NC; his brother, Clarence Yearwood, Jr. (Deanna) of Wake Forest, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Yearwood, Sr. an Louise Yearwood.
