MRS. ELIZABETH JEAN HIXSON TAYLOR – Age 61, of Old Fort, TN passed away Friday, June 12, 2026. She was born November 1, 1964 to her late parents, Frederick Raulston Hixson, Jr. and Laura Jean Lewis Akins. Elizabeth was a graduate of East Ridge High School Class of 1982 and Edmonson Junior College with a Associates Degree in Bus Administration. Elizabeth was employed by Cracker Barrel as a Server for many years where she enjoyed her customers on a daily basis. Also, in her Leadership position with Home Depot, Elizabeth was respected for her professionalism and honesty. Elizabeth was of the Christian Faith and was well known for her participation in ministry and Way of The Cross singing group. Elizabeth, affectionately known as “Beth” to her family, was considered friendly, outgoing, and always smiling.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick Raulston Hixson, Jr. and Laura Jean Lewis Akins; and son-in-law, Philip T. Crane.
She is survived by her loving husband, James Taylor, Jr.; children, Susan Nicole Crane and Daniel Anthony (Hailey) Brown; grandchild, Drake Anthony Brown, with a granddaughter on the way; siblings, Catherine Hixson (Steven) Mingus and Mary Frances Hixson; uncle, Stanley Allen Lewis; aunt; Carol Lewis; and several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
Funeral Service will be Friday, June 19, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor David Owens and Danny Overholt, both officiating. The family will receive extended family and friends on Friday from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment at Cohutta Hills Community Church Cemetery.
