Obituary For Mother Nellie Cooksey

Mother Nellie M. Cooksey, 81, of Broadway St., Harrisburg, transitioned into eternal life on Monday, March 11, 2019 at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital.

She was born in Bennettsville, SC, daughter of the late Pete and Hattie Mae Jenkins, a graduate of Altoona High School, retired from Commonwealth of PA, Harrisburg State Hospital, as a Licensed Practical Nurse with 36 years of service, a faithful member of Mt. Zion Church of God in Christ, where she served on the Mother's Board, the Usher, Nurses, Greeters and Hospitality Boards, the Church's Aide and Ways & Means Committees, Treasurer of the Financial Board and the Cake Baker for the Church. In addition to her parents, Mother Cooksey was preceded in death by her daughter, Renee Cooksey and she leaves to celebrate her life, her husband, Johnny H. Cooksey; her sons, Roderick H. and Leon R. Cooksey; her sister, Mildred Jenkins; her seven grandchildren; her three great-grands and a host of other relatives and friends. Mother Cooksey's life will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary of her Church at 557 Radnor St., with viewing 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. and burial in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
