Obituary For Christine Jackson Morgan

Christine Jackson Morgan known to family as ”Chris” and to friends as “Pastor Morgan” was born in Vidalia, Georgia to the late Robert and Mary Jackson on January 8, 1944. In her early twenties, she migrated to New Jersey and worked at Morris Fuel Nursing home where she embraced her love to care for others. On April 8, 1967 she married the love of her life, Mr Sylvester “”Bruh” Morgan and birthed a beautiful baby girl, Iris, who lived in the home and cared for her mother in her final days. Once married she decided to advance her education by attending nursing school at County College of Morris in New Jersey. She began her nursing career at Pine Acres Nursing Home in Madison, NJ and retired from John Umstead Hospital in Butner, NC after working in the healthcare profession all of her adult life. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and served as a Pastor of the New Free Will Church of the Loving God in Durham NC from 1995 until 2014. She poured into others, mentored and connected to the community on a spiritual level spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. She lived to win souls for Jesus! She walked and she talked it! The roles that Chris cherished the most were wife, mother, pastor, sister, aunt and friend. In these positions, she taught the values of love, hard work, honesty and integrity. She filled many rooms with love as she found it to be the best medicine for all things. She loved until she departed this life on March 18, 2019.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her beloved husband, Sylvester Morgan and devoted daughter Iris Morgan; “adopted” daughter, Patisha Johnson; sister, Mary E Grubbs “MG”; brother, Eugene Jackson (Beatrice); four brother-in laws, Elvis Morgan “Betty”, Willie L. Morgan “Patsy”, Ralph Bowman “Margie”, James Morton and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman Jackson (Alaria) and Timothy “TJ” Jackson (Geneva).

Funeral service will be at Holloway Memorial Funeral Home, 2502 NC Hwy 55, on Sunday, March 24, 2019, at 1:00 pm, visitation at 12:00 noon.
