Obituary For Wanda Marie ‘Lump” Lea

Ms. Wanda “Lump“ Lea died peacefully in her home on March 18th, 2019 in Durham, North Carolina at the age of 59.

Wanda is survived by her 4 children Latricia Lea, Shaleka Lea, DeOnte Burnett and Brianna Lea. Her mother Alease Venable (Joe), sister Patricia Lea, four brothers William Lea, Thomas Lea, George Lea and Jack Dale Lea, one honorary daughter Juanita Roper and close friend/sister Myra Shaw. She is preceded in death by her father Lofton Lea, sister Jacqueline Gale Lea, nephew Leon Lea and niece Alicia Lea.

Wanda was born on June 29th, 1959 in Burlington, North Carolina to Lofton Lea and Alease Venable. She graduated with her GED from Durham Technical Community College.

Wanda began working for Durham Public Schools from 1999-2003 and has worked for The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill for nearly 20 years. Over the past 40 years, Wanda began working for Durham Public Schools from 1999-2004 and worked for the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill for nearly 20 years.

Over the past 40 years, Wanda welcomed her 4 children and a host of others into her life. Setting out to teach them the value of hard work and encouraging them to follow their dreams. Wanda was and authentic individual who loved her friends and family. She was a member of New Calvary Baptist Church were she was baptized and saved in 2018.

Wanda was loving and loved by all that knew her. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Family Home at 1436 Sedwick Road, Durham NC 27713. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support. May God keep you and bless you all!

Funeral services will be at New Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 3024 Burton Rd., on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 1:00 pm., visitation at 12:00 noon.
