Frances Burton was born April 29, 1953 in Louisville, Georgia, to the late Lorene Burton. On June 20, 2026, she peacefully departed this life at St. Francis Emory Healthcare in Columbus, Georgia. Her life was marked by her love for family, faith, fellowship, and her generous spirit of serving others.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church, located at 5116 Belmont Road, Louisville, Georgia with the pastor, Rev. John Kitchens, Eulogist, nephew, Min. Kendrick McBride, presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Frances was raised in Louisville, Georgia, and later moved to Washington, D.C., where she built a remarkable career rooted in service and dedication. She worked for 15 years at Woodward & Lothrop Department Store before continuing her career with Guest Services, Inc., where she faithfully served for 25 years until her retirement. After retiring, Frances returned home to Louisville in 2015. Upon her return, she reunited with her church family at Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church, where she remained a devoted and faithful member until her health began to decline.
Frances found great joy in cooking and sharing meals with family, friends, and anyone in need of a warm plate and kind conversation. Known as an exceptional cook, she expressed her love through hospitality and generosity. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews, who held a special place in her heart. She faithfully participated in weekly prayer line calls with her nephew and found comfort and joy in listening to gospel music and other favorite songs.
She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Lorene Burton; her sisters, Margaret Burton Parker and Betty Burton; and her brother, Andrew Burton; several aunts and uncles.
Frances leaves to cherish her precious memories her brothers, Ronnie (Christine) Burton of Louisville, Georgia, Earnest Burton of Augusta, Georgia, Wesley (Denise) Burton of Blythewood, South Carolina, David Burton of Tampa, Florida, and Clinton Burton of Cape Canaveral, Florida; her sisters, Katherine (James) Brooks of Fieldale, Virginia, Dollie Burton of Washington, D.C., Helen Burton of Dublin, Georgia, and Pauline Akinbowale of Washington, D.C.; uncle and aunt; Ed Willie “Luggie” Burton and Nancy Thompson, Louisville, Georgia; along with a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will forever treasure her memory.
Though she will be deeply missed, Frances leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, faith, and devotion to family that will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
