The Life and Legacy of Mr. Julius F. Hogan, Jr.

The family finds comfort in the timeless words of Ecclesiastes 3:1-4: 'To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die... a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.'"

Mr. Julius F. Hogan, Jr. was born to the parentage of the late Mr. Julius F. Hogan, Sr. and Mrs. Arletta L. Groom on October 19, 1972. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandmother, Ms. Luella Ree Franklin (“Mother Phillips”), his father-n-law, Dea. Nathaniel Edwards, his mother-n-law, Pastor Alice M. Edwards and his grandmother-n-law, Mother Edith Coxfield.

He earned his high school diploma from Niagara Falls High School in Niagara Falls, New York. Following graduation, he answered the call to service and enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country with honor and distinction until receiving a medical retirement and an honorable discharge.

Upon returning to civilian life, Julius channeled his passion for technology into higher education. He earned a technical certificate as a PC Repair and Network Technician from Moultrie Technical College, later culminating his academic journey with a Bachelor’s Degree from Limestone College.

For a little over 15 years, he was a cornerstone of the Information Systems department at Orgill, Inc. in Tifton, GA where he served as a highly skilled Computer Operator DC. Throughout his distinguished tenure, Julius did not view his position as a job; he approached each day with a genuine love for his work and a deep appreciation for the vital role he played within the company. Known for his meticulous attention to detail and unwavering reliability, Julius took immense pride in his technical expertise, consistently ensuring that operations were accurate, efficient, and timely. His colleagues will remember him not only for his command of the technology that he managed but for the infectious enthusiasm and positive attitude that he brought to the office every morning.

Julius was united in holy matrimony with the love of his life, Shaquanta D. Hogan, on October 17, 2015. Together, they were blessed with over a decade of shared love, devotion, and marital bliss. They shared a deep spiritual foundation and united with The Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Valdosta, Georgia, under the spiritual leadership of Dr. Charles E. Vinson, Sr. After being baptized together, they actively embedded themselves in the life of the church. Julius served with immense pride and dedication on both the Parking Lot/Security Ministry and the Men’s Ministry. He held a genuine, deep-seated affection for his fellow parishioners, serving them faithfully until his health began to decline.

His legacy of love will be forever cherished by his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Shaquanta D. Hogan, one son that he loved and adored, Mr. Julius F. Hogan, III (“Juice”), five sisters, Ms. Kathleen DeOreo, Ms. Lisa Slaton, Ms. Marcella Carson, Ms. Michelle Hogan, and Ms. Melissa Moss, one brother, Mr. Jason Hogan.

Julius also leaves a legacy of deep friendship and community connection. His memory will be forever cherished by three very special men in his life: his best man, Mr. Mychael Eason (“House”), his brother-n-law, Mr. Nathan T. Edwards, Sr. (“Nate”) and his beloved uncle, Michael Coxfield (“Uncle Mike”). He also leaves behind his extended corporate family at Orgill, Inc. in Tifton, GA; his spiritual family at The Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Valdosta, GA; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated medical teams at the Anita Stewart Oncology Center in Tifton, GA, and the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL, for their compassionate care and unwavering support.
