Nancy Y. Curry (Duchess), 64, transitioned into eternal life on Wednesday June 17, 2026. She was born in Harrisburg. She was the daughter of the late Daniel Akra Sr. and the late Marva Akra. She was affectionately known as Duchess or Duch to those who knew and loved her.
Duch graduated from Harrisburg High school. She loved taking care of people; she was a CNA and worked in many nursing homes, and she did private duty all throughout Harrisburg and surrounding areas.
She loved her girls, all animals, especially dogs, plants and flowers. In her leisure she liked putting together puzzles, working in her indoor garden. Her best past time was spending time with her girl baking cookies, or water balloon fights, reading books and watching movies with her girls.
Duch was preceded in death by her daughter Calista M. Curry and her husband Eugene O. Curry, Her father Daniel Akra Sr., and Mother Marva Akra. She leaves to celebrate her life her daughter Marla T. Wilson, and son-in-law Timothy L. Wilson, Stepson Desi Curry, Sisters Evelyn Walker (Milton) of Reading, Marva Hume (Robert) of Harrisburg, Brothers Daniel Akra Jr. (Vicki) of Harrisburg, Samuel Akra Sr of Harrisburg. And a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves honorary kids and grandkids.
Duchess life will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 11 a.m. at The Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, 704 N. Front Street, Steelton Pennsylvania with viewing and visitation at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
