In 2002, seeking a fresh start and new opportunities, Norell relocated to Smyrna, Tennessee. There, he built a life filled with family, friendships, and treasured memories.
Norell’s greatest joy in life was being a father. He leaves behind two beloved daughters, Noreal Feltus, 30, of New Orleans, Louisiana, and McKenzie Norell Otis, 13, of Nashville, Tennessee.
He was also a proud grandfather to Three grandsons: Johnquize Ealy, Jo’sohn Ealy, Jo’ziah Ealy, who brought him immeasurable happiness, pride, and love.
Norell had a passion for sports, and was a loyal fan of the New Orleans Saints and the Chicago Cubs. He loved the color red and was known for his kind heart, infectious sense of humor, and willingness to help others. Those who knew and loved him will remember his strength, loyalty, resilience, and the love he shared so freely.
Norell Otis is survived by his brother, Austin Otis Sr. (Anjelica) of Norfolk, Virginia; Four Nephews: Austin Otis Jr., Aaron Otis, Aden Otis, Ananias Otis; Two Nieces: Lillyanni Otis and Lizabella Otis; Aunts: Maxine Robinson, Jacqueline Robichaux, Lita Walker (Minister Isaac Walker) of Smyrna, Tennessee and Tina Otis of Plano, Texas; Uncles: Matthew Otis Jr. (Melissa) of Houma, Louisiana and John Otis (Jade) of Slidell, Louisiana; as well as a host of cousins, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
He also leaves behind his devoted friend and former wife of 23 years, Adrien “Nia” Otis. Though their marriage ended, their bond remained strong through friendship, mutual respect, and their shared commitment to raising and supporting their daughter.
Norrell was preceded in death by his mother, the late Janice Otis Walker; Maternal grandparents, Matthew Otis Sr. and Nora Lee Otis.
While our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that Norell is now at peace, free from pain and suffering.
His legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the memories he created, and the family he loved so dearly.
