Funeral Service for Mary J. Ball 89, will be Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Noon at the Anniston Funeral Service Russell H. Williams Memorial Chapel with Pastor Stanley Gaddis, officiating. Ms. Ball passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026 at Regional Medical Center.

Ms. Ball graduated from Ophelia High School. Ms. Ball's career was all about caring for others, and she truly found her happy place at the Anniston Soup Bowl. There, she spent her days dishing out delicious meals and even bigger servings of compassion and grace until her retirement. Ms. Ball was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons, Gerald Ball and Tony Ball; her sister: Dorris Willis; her grandchildren: Toni (Reggie) Wills, Adrian Ball, Alicia Ball; her great-grandchildren: Shaundaja Curry, Tacarius Wills, Kieona Jackson, Aliya Ball, Chyron Cochran Jr., Jammerik Cochran, Layla Wills and Chyniya Cochran; great-great-grandchildren, Zymeria, Bryson, Braxton, Leonard, and Ki'Mani; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, JD and Annie Bell Ball, siblings, JD Ball, Jr., Morris Ball, Tommy Lee Ball, Theola Ball, Alvin Ball, Minnie Lee Wynn, and Annie Laura Ball, sister in-law, Eloise "Lois" Ball, as well as her dear daughter in-law, Geraldine "Jill" Ball.
