It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tony F. Staples, a beloved father, brother, and friend. Tony was born on April 20, 1961, the son of Henry Staples Sr. and Fannie Mae (Brown) Staples, in Columbus, MS, he peacefully left us on June 27, 2026, in Youngstown, OH.
Affectionately known as Ice Man, Tony was a dedicated handyman and lawn care provider, always bringing vibrant life to the properties he maintained. He took great pride in his work and was known for his unwavering commitment to his clients. A self-taught man with a knack for fixing anything, Tony never said no to a challenge and approached every task with humor and enthusiasm.
Always the ultimate Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Tony loved cheering for his team and sharing those moments with friends and family. His joy was infectious, and he had a way of bringing people together.
He is survived by his children: Toni Staples-McDowell, Tony Staples Jr., Jermaine Staples, Deangelo Bailey, and Marcus Bailey, as well as his loving siblings Beverlyn Staples, Pastor Collin (Pastor Deborah) Staples, Kenneth Staples, and Zerrick (Lisa) Staples, Sr., and his cousin with whom he shared a brother-like relationship, former Youngstown Mayor Jamal Tito (Lynette) Brown. Tony also leaves behind a host of family and friends, which includes seventeen grandchildren. The special bond he enjoyed with his family remains unchanged, and his absence will be deeply felt.
As Tony crossed the celestial sands into eternity, he joins the ancestors which includes parents’ sons Rashad Staples, Devon Bailey; brother Henry Staples Jr. and grandmother Lula Mae Brown.
Join us to celebrate Tony's life at a memorial service that will be held at The Richard W. & Eugenia C. Atkinson Recreation Center, 903 Otis Street, Youngstown, OH 44510 on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM. with Pastors Collin & Deborah Staples presiding.
The family also wishes to express their tremendous appreciation for the compassionate palliative and transitional care extended to Tony by Buckeye Hospice.
