OBITUARY

PHILLIP STANLEY SCARBOROUGH SR. was born on December 3, 1947, to Rebecca and Adrian Scarborough. He was raised in New York alongside his five brothers and one sister, surrounded by a close-knit family that remained at the center of his life. A devoted son, Phillip was proudly known as a "Mama's Boy," sharing a special bond with his mother throughout his life.

Phillip attended DeWitt Clinton High School in New York, where he enjoyed playing football. Raised in the Catholic faith, he served as an altar boy during his youth, a reflection of the values that helped shape his character.

At the young age of 17, Phillip experienced one of life's greatest joys when he became the father of his son, Phillip Stanley Scarborough Jr. He later married Beverly, who later became known as Eshey, and together they welcomed two daughters, Jennifer and Kayla.

Phillip's career began in the insurance industry before he discovered his true talent as a skilled handyman. His craftsmanship and dedication led him to become the superintendent of the apartment building where he lived on West 147th Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues in Harlem. He took great pride in maintaining the building and helping those around him.

Phillip found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He had a lifelong love for animals and always made room in his home for at least one beloved cat. He enjoyed caring for plants and found peace in nature, especially at the New York Botanical Garden and Central Park. His love of the water eventually led him to Far Rockaway, New York, where he treasured long walks along the beach.

For many years, Phillip shared his life with his beloved partner, Margaret Richards, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his cherished son, Phillip Stanley Scarborough Jr.

Phillip leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory: his daughters, Jennifer Scarborough and Kayla Scarborough; his grandchildren, Kenneth, Norberto, Myasia, Nayah, Mia, and Laila; his great-grandchildren, Talia, Kaleb, Phoenix, Tiyanna, and Shane; his brother, Michael Scarborough; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Phillip will be remembered for his love of family, his willingness to lend a helping hand, his appreciation for nature, his gentle spirit, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew and loved him. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
