MRS. GLENDA FAYE McCONNELL- Age 75, Of Calhoun,Georgia was born on May 20, 1951, in Adairsville, Georgia, to the late Wynell Davis and James Benson Moran As the eldest of four siblings—Wayne (“Bubba”), Kenny, and Monty—Glenda naturally stepped into the role of protector, nurturer, and caregiver. She loved her brothers fiercely, often caring for them with the same unconditional devotion as if they were her own children.

Glenda began her education in the Bartow County School System and later attended Adairsville High School. Her life was defined by hard work, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to serving others.

She entered the workforce alongside her beloved mother, Wynell, as a cook at the Holiday Inn in Calhoun. Throughout the years, Glenda dedicated herself to various positions in the textile industry, working faithfully at Ranger Rugs, Calmor, Horizon, Springs, and Evco Plastics. Yet, her true passion was always caring for people. She eventually returned to the hospitality industry, where she became a beloved hostess at Ryan’s Steakhouse, later Fire Mountain, and Mama’s Home Cooking. Her warm smile, welcoming spirit, and genuine kindness made everyone feel like family.

After taking early retirement, Glenda devoted herself wholeheartedly to her greatest joy—her grandchildren. She lovingly poured into their lives, helping raise them with patience, wisdom, compassion, and an unwavering foundation of faith. She believed that loving people and loving God went hand in hand, and she made sure her family knew both.

Above all else, Glenda loved the Lord. Her relationship with God was the cornerstone of her life. When the presence of the Holy Spirit filled the room, there was no mistaking the passion in her voice as she boldly shared the goodness of God with everyone she encountered. She began her walk of faith at Redeeming Overcoming Church of God under the leadership of Bishop Norris K. Allen. Under the guidance of Evangelist Annie Birdsong, she answered the call to become a missionary, faithfully spreading the Gospel wherever God led her. She later united with Adairsville Body of Christ under Pastor Kenneth Benham, where her fire for Christ never wavered. Even as declining health limited her attendance, her faith remained steadfast. She stood firmly on God’s promise found in Hebrews 13:5, believing with all her heart that He would never leave her nor forsake her.

On May 24, 1971, Glenda married the love of her life, James Howard McConnell. Together they built a beautiful marriage that spanned 55 years, rooted in love, faith, perseverance, and unwavering commitment. Their union blended families as Glenda brought her son, Rodney, and James brought his sons, Sean and Keith. Before long, those three boys were joined by two cherished daughters, Kizzy and Brandy, bringing even more joy into the McConnell home. As the years passed, their family continued to grow with grandchildren and great-grandchildren who became the heartbeat of Glenda’s life.

On Monday, July 20, 2026, just two months after celebrating her 75th birthday, Glenda peacefully entered her eternal rest. While our hearts grieve her absence, Heaven rejoices in her arrival. She leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, unconditional love, selfless service, and countless lives forever changed by her kindness. As Scripture reminds us in 2 Corinthians 5:8, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, Wynell Davis and James Benson Moran; her maternal grandparents, Effie Mae Davis Harris (Doug) and Horace Ross; her paternal grandparents, Gertrude Moran and Jimmy Moran; her beloved brothers, Wayne Johnson and Kenny Davis; and her grandson, Sean McConnell.

She leaves to cherish her beautiful legacy and countless treasured memories her devoted husband of 55 years, James Howard McConnell; her children, Rodney (Edna) Davis, Sean (Miranda) McConnell, Keith (Tracy) McConnell, Kizzy McConnell (Corey Jackson), and Brandy McConnell. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren: Rodney (RD) Davis, Tyson, Lashania Davis, Shasta Ervin, Ashton Ervin, Jamaya Davis, Dorian McConnell, Jamil Burdette, Bre’ Davis, along with bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought endless joy to her life.

She is also survived by her cherished brother, Monty (Tracey) Davis; her nephews, Jarrode (Sarah) Davis and Baby Rod; her loving aunts, Lavern Harris, Joan Carter, and Bernice Smith; her uncles, F.K. (Jeanette) Harris, Edward Harris, and Lewis (Annie) Harris; her sisters-in-love, Vickie Towns and Sharon (Woodrow) Wilson; brother-in-law, Allen McConnell; a host of loving cousins; and dear lifelong friends, Marilyn, Jean, Patricia, Sabrina, Genise, and Teresa, along with countless others whose lives were touched by her love, encouragement, and unwavering faith.

Though our hearts are heavy, we do not say goodbye. We simply say, “See you later.”

And if Glenda could leave us with one final message, it would be this:

“GET RIGHT!!!!!!”

Mrs. Glenda Faye McConnell’s Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 11:00 A. M. at Adairsville Body Of Christ Church. Interment will be held at Gordon Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to Willis Funeral Home, Inc.
