Graveside Services for Mr. Billy Mack Chester, of Stone Mountain, Georgia will be held Monday, August 3, 2026, 9:30 AM at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery at 9:00 AM.

Billy Mack Chester, beloved uncle, great-uncle, veteran, and friend, was born on August 27, 1938, in Cuthbert, Georgia, to Rufus Chester, Sr. and Ozie Chitty. He departed this life on July 11, 2026.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Rufus Chester, Jr. and Alex C. Green; and his sister, Carol Willis. Though their absence was felt, the love and legacy of his family remained a meaningful part of his life.

A proud veteran, Billy served his country by enlisting in the military where he served overseas. After leaving the military, he made his home in New York, where he built a life of independence and purpose and later retired from the New York transportation system.

Following the pandemic, Billy made the heartfelt decision to move “down south” to be closer to his family. There, he was embraced by their care, companionship, and devotion, enjoying the love that surrounded him until his soul left his body on July 11, 2026.

Billy will be remembered for his zest for living life to its fullest, his generosity, his quick wit, his big heart, and his wonderful sense of humor. He had a gift for bringing laughter and warmth into the lives of those around him, and his memory will remain a blessing to all who knew and loved him.

He leaves to cherish his memory his nieces, Karen Young and Sheryl Green-Barner, and his nephew, Alex G. Green, who will remember him with love and affection until the end of their days. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Felice J. Green, wife of the late Alex C. Green; great-nieces, Carla Willis Anderson, Robyn Young, Brittaney Outlaw, and Natalya Green; great-nephews, Calvin Willis, Jr. and Cameron Dahveed Green; along with several great-great nieces, great-great nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Billy Mack Chester’s life was one of service, strength, laughter, and love. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will continue to live on in the stories shared, the lessons remembered, and the love carried forward by his family.
