Christopher Wayne Geter, Sr. was born June 4, 1961, to the late Edward Sam Geter, Sr., and Viola Williams Geter. He passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026, with his family by his side in Hephzibah, GA. Chris was educated in the Richmond County School System. He was a proud graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School.

Over the course of his life, he worked in many areas of construction that included building, carpentry, roofing, and landscaping. Even after retiring, he, big brother Carl, and brother-in-law Jesse Bunn were always doing projects around his mama's house. Christopher enjoyed football, basketball, and cooking for his family. He was also a huge fan of Geter family reunions. You could always find him on the grill. Chris touched everybody's lives. He showed up when it mattered, had your back, and would defend and stand up for those he loved, should the need arise. He kept us safe!

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Sam Geter, Sr., and brothers Sam, Jr. and Albert Geter.

Chris is survived by his mother, Viola Geter; wife, LaReon Collier-Geter; children, Kenyetta Holman, Kenneth Holman, Renee Geter, Christopher Geter, Jr., Sheree Holman, Tayah Geter-Lindsey (Sean), Demontrez Geter (Zahkiya), Cannan Geter, Aliyah Collier, Alteona Collier, Andrea Collier, Andre Collier, and Albreona Collier; Special Child, Tryquan Smith; eighteen grandchildren; goddaughter, Zaniyah Geter; siblings, Carl (Janelle), Brenda Mims, Beverly Geter-Green, Richard Geter (Theresa), Frank Lewis Barnes (Gloria), Deborah Bunn; aunts, Carol Austin, Elvinia Geter; uncle, Eddie Williams (Arlene); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends who cherish his memory.

Public viewing will be Friday, July 31, 2026, 4 - 6 pm at the funeral home.

A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 am, Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Beulah Grove Baptist Church.

Interment will be at Ebenezer Rock Cemetery.
