William Robert Dockery, 70, of High Point, NC departed this life on July 24, 2026. His earthly journey is complete, and he has entered his heavenly home. Affectionately known as “Doc,” he was born on November 30, 1955, the cherished only child of William “Bill” and Lucille Williams Dockery. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as many grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was raised on the Southside of High Point, shaped by a deeply rooted foundation of family and friends. A proud graduate of High Point Central’s Class of 1974, he is remembered by many as a strong athlete.
Doc was a man of many talents; he took great pride in working as a supervisor at Macy’s Warehouse and in building his own independent lawn care service. We will deeply miss his ready smile and his engaging wit. He always possessed a kind word for everyone, along with a gentle, persuasive way of getting you to see things his way.
His legacy of love lives on through his family: his partner, Santita Ayuso; the mother of his children, Sharon Simrel, and his daughters, LaTonya Simrel-Wright and her husband, Fred Jr., and Stephanie Curtain and her husband, Brian; his legacy lives on through his beloved grandchildren, Bailee Wright, Clover Curtain, and Harper Curtain; he is also lovingly remembered by his uncles, Walter Dockery and Wendell Dockery; his aunt, Maxine McRae; his adopted sister, Dwana Dockery; his forever best friend, Kelsie Dockery, and his bonus family: Carmen Ayuso, Latresa Ayuso, and Desiria Geigel. Beyond his immediate circle, a vast network of extended family and dear friends are left to cherish the unique and special bond they each shared with him.
He did the hard, brave work of turning his life around, choosing to become a better man, a kinder soul, and a truer friend. In doing so, he showed all of us what strength looks like.
May we always look back on Doc’s beautiful life with smiles for how he lived rather than sadness for how he left.
