OPELOUSAS – Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Greater Shiloh Baptist Church in Opelousas, LA for Mrs. Esta Dominick Davis Collier, 78, who entered eternal rest on Monday, July 20, 2026 in Houston, TX.

Esta Mae Dominick Davis Collier, affectionately known as “Toot,” was born on September 14, 1947, in Grand Prairie, Louisiana, to the late Deacon Ervin Dominick Sr. and Deaconess Flanders Taylor Dominick. Esta received her early education at Grand Prairie Elementary and then attended Washington Colored High School. In 1964, at the age of 16, she graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School and went on to graduate from T.H. Harris Cosmetology School of Opelousas in 1966.

Esta accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at True Vine Baptist Church in Grand Prairie. She was a faithful member of New Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Houston for 50 years. She loved singing in the choir and serving with the Women’s, Hospitality, and Food Pantry ministries.

After moving to Houston in 1967, she worked for Big Man’s Record Store, Woolco, the University of Houston, the Houston Blood Bank, and the Houston Independent School District. She then worked for the City of Houston, including Riverside Clinic, Jefferson Davis Hospital, and Southwest WIC. She retired from the city in 2009 after 29 years of service.

She proudly raised three girls, Sonji (aka Tresa), Kimberly, and Kenya. She was also elated to help raise her granddaughter, Bleu. Reveling in her retirement, she loved taking walks, cooking, baking, and reading with Bleu. One of her greatest joys was picking her up at the “bus stop,” which meant she was the first car in the carpool lane. She happily did this until she became ill in 2024.

She loved reading the Word, singing, trying new recipes, talking to her siblings every day, playing bingo, working word search puzzles, watching judge shows & game shows, and viewing the world news. She lived a beautiful, fulfilling life until she was called home to be with the Lord on July 20, 2026.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Flanders Dominick; brother, Robert Lee Dominick; sister-in-law, Helen Offord Dominick; and stepdaughter, Tanya Collier.

She is survived by her brothers, Earlis Dominick and Ervin Dominick Jr. (Sheila) of Houston, TX; sisters, Isabella Greene (Gerald Sr.) of Opelousas, LA and Norma Jean Reed (Ricky Sr.) of Plaisance, LA; sister-in-law, Cynthia Dominick of Prairieville, LA; daughters, Sonji Dominick of Baton Rouge, LA, Kimberly Davis and Kenya Davis-Flowers of Houston, TX; granddaughter, Cassidy Bleu Flowers of Houston, TX; godsons, James Dominick and Ricky Reed, Jr. (Phylicia) of Houston, TX; stepdaughter, Kawania Collier of Houston, TX; step-grandchildren, Ashley Collier, Rica Perard, Jarve Collier, and Zoderic Farmer of Houston, TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Greater Shiloh Baptist Church.
