Obituary For Mr. Eddie Lee Kirby

Eddie Lee Kirby, age 82 of Dillon County, South Carolina passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at McLeod Hospice House, Florence, South Carolina surrounded by his family. He was born on October 13, 1936. The son of the late Lee and Queen E. Ray Kirby and was subsequently adopted by Reverend James and Mamie Bellamy.

He joined Hazy Grove Baptist Church at an early age and attended until his health failed. During this time he served on the Trustee Board and as Church Treasurer.

Eddie worked for Fieldcrest Mills for over twenty years commuting to work in Laurel Hill, North Carolina. He was known for his quick wit, infectious attitude towards life and his kind, compassionate spirit. He had a passion for fishing and gardening as evidenced by his prize-winning vegetables.

Preceding Eddie along with his parents in death, a daughter: Mary Townsend; two sisters: Ola Kirby, Mary Deloris Bellamy and one brother: Fred McCallum. Eddie is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years: Minister Mary Kirby; four children; James (Annette) McDowell of Dillon, SC, Doris Kirby Winston of Atlanta, GA, Dr. Eddie (Crystal) Kirby Jr. of San Antonio, Texas, Antonio Bellamy of Dillon, SC; eleven grandchildren: Martina Harris, Jessica Harris, Terrence Pittman, Jordan McDowell, Zachary McDowell, Kenneth Townsend, Ashley Kirby, Alexis Kirby, Jade McDowell, Madison Winston and Gabriella; two great-grandchildren: Anthony and Josiah; sister-n-law: Nora McCallum and many other loving sisters-n-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
