The Journey Begins- September 4, 1945 in Soperton, Georgia, parents: the late James Lee Wiggins and Louise Wright Wiggins. She was the youngest of six children and they named her Christins. The family relocated to Pompano Beach, Florida when she was three months old. She was educated in the public schools of Broward County and spent two years of high school in a Seventh-Day Adventist Christian Academy before graduating from Blanche Ely High School with honors and a college scholarship. “The days of our years are three- score years and ten, and if by reason of strength they are fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow for it is soon cut off and we fly away. So teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom” Psalm 90: 10-12 (KJV)

The Journey Continues - June 10, 1962 Christine married her high school sweetheart Henry Lewis, Jr and they established their first home in Daytona Beach, Florida where their first child was born. After six years they moved back to the family farm in Louisville, Georgia. Christine continued her college pursuits before and after the birth of their second child. Their god-daughter was adopted as their third child. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5,6 (KJV)

The Journey Progresses- January 8, 1998, Christine finally completed her educational pursuits which included a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education from Georgia College, Milledgeville and a Master of Education from Cambridge College, Cambridge MA. Other training and Certifications helped to steer her earlier employment as a Stenographer at the Georgia Department of Labor and DFACS Eligibility, CPS & APS Case Worker. She was employed by the Jefferson County Public School System at Wrens High School and later worked as a Special Education Teacher at Carver Elementary, Louisville Middle, and Wrens Elementary. She was voted Jefferson County Teacher of the Year in 1999.

The Journey Expands- May 1998, Christine and her husband Henry established and operated Pleasant Acres Personal Care Home and later were foster parents to thirty- eight children in their home over several years. Together, this dynamic husband-wife team were Co-Directors of the Wrens Christian Day Care and Child Development Center in Wrens, GA. “I must do the works of him that sent me, while it is day; the night cometh when no man can work” St. John 9:4 (KJV)

The Journey Concludes- July 31, 2026 brought the journey in this life to its conclusion, but it is just a pause for her to rest a while. Christine believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and claimed His promise of Revelation 14:13 “Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord… saith the Spirit that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them” Hope is in His Promise of First Thessalonians 4:16-18 “ For the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the Archangel and with the trump of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first; Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord, wherefore, comfort one another with these words.” prompted Christine to give her life to Christ at an early age and she was baptized into membership as a Seventh-Day Adventist. As a charter member of the SDA Church in Milledgeville and later Wrens, she faithfully served in many capacities and was known for her kindness, her generosity and especially her love for children. She was also active and well known throughout the Jefferson County Community. “And, behold I come quickly and my reward is with me to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do His commandments that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.” Revelation 22:12-14 (KJV)

The Journey Ends- Christine Wiggins Lewis will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 64 years, Henry Lewis, Jr. of Louisville, GA; children Valerie L. (Paul) James- Whaley of Wadley, GA; Henry (Terri) Lewis, III- “Tre” of Louisville, GA; Gwendolyn L. (Pastor Gilbert) Williams of Houston, TX; grandchildren: William Cameron, Victoria, Cedric; Taylor, Haley, Henry IV- “Jase”; Gabrielle (Tristen) Williams- Birl, Gaillynn, Gilbert II; great grands: Braxton, Brooklyn, Brielyn, Kaiyah, Brienlyn; siblings : Alberta Hill of Seattle, WA, Willie (Shirley) Wiggins of Huntsville, AL, Katie McNair of Louisville, GA, Jessie (Ozzie) Phillips of Boca Raton, FL; In-laws: Jason (Ella) Lewis, Columbus, OH, Majorie Green, Detroit, MI, Rufus Lewis, Augusta, GA, Honora (Lula) Lewis, Keysville, GA, Dorothy Shinhoster, Miami, FL, Josephine Lewis, Aiken, SC; and a host of special god-children, nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her oldest brother, Roger Jones.
