Obituary For John "Bruh" Ellis

John Ellis, the second eldest of eleven siblings, was born in Madison, Georgia on July 21, 1938, to Jannie Ellis Alexander and the late John Ellis, Sr. He attended public schools of Morgan County, Georgia.

John moved to Fort Pierce and worked many years as a laborer, factory mechanic, and an entrepreneur who provided lawn care service. He retired from Tree Sweet Citrus Plant. He was gifted with the ability to repair cars, fix things around a house, and build many things. He loved spending time with his family. John also had a love for dogs.

John Ellis began his Christian walk at First Bethel Baptist Missionary Baptist Church, initially under the leadership of the late Rev. Charlie C. Byrd, and remained an active member until his health limited his mobility.

On April 1, 2019, at Treasure Coast Hospice, the Lord called John home for eternal rest and peace.

John leaves to cherish his memories: his daughters, Cathy (Leon) Ellis of Fort Pierce, FL; Johnie M. (Demetrice) Ellis of West Palm Beach, FL; his sons, Kenneth Ellis of Daytona Beach, FL and Gazarrus Ellis, Sr. of Fort Pierce, FL; and stepdaughter, Willie Mae (Wayne) Hutchins of Wellington, FL; beloved mother, Jannie Ellis Alexander of Fort Pierce, FL; sisters Virgina Ellis of Atlanta, Ga and Carol (John) Washington of Fort Pierce, FL; brothers, Bobby James (Shirley) Ellis of Rochester, NY; Marcellus (Joyce) Alexander of Douglasville, Ga; Almond (Linda) Alexander and Joseph Ellis of Birmingham, AL; Inous Ellis and Dennis Ellis of Fort Pierce, FL; grandchildren, Kamau Dean, Sharondrea King, Dwayne Barnes, Jr., Deanna (Ale) Delancey, Shantell Ellis, Princess Ellis, Fidel Williams, Michael Ellis, Leondrea Barron, Ebony Ellis, Gazarrus Ellis, Jr., and Shameka Ellis; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Public visitation for Mr. Ellis will take place on Friday, April 12, 2019 at First Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Pierce, FL from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Funeral services will convene on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 11:00am. Those services will also take place at the First Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will immediately follow at Riverview Memorial Park in Fort Pierce, FL.
