Obituary For Mrs. Beatrice Addison

Darlington - Funeral service for Mother Beatrice Thomas Addison will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Round O Missionary Baptist Church, 1900 Society Hill Rd., Darlington. Interment will follow in Round O Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC.

Mother Beatrice Thomas Addison, known as “Sweet B” was born in Darlington, South Carolina on December 10, 1939, a daughter of the late Marie Thomas Lowery and the late Johnny McNeil. On April 7, 2019 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, South Carolina her Heavenly wings were gained as she was called to eternal rest.

Beatrice attended Public Schools in Darlington County and was a graduate of Rosenwald High School.

At an early age, she attended Round O Baptist Church in Darlington, South Carolina and later joined her husband at New Providence Baptist Church in Darlington, South Carolina, where she became a longtime faithful member and served as a Deaconess on the Deaconess Board. Many years later she joined Megaforce For Jesus Outreach Ministries in Cades, South Carolina and was appointed Church Mother under the leadership of Bishop Joe D. Graham. Mother Addison’s love for the Lord could be seen at any given time by her praise and worship, until the day she transitioned.

Mother Addison was preceded in death by her parents, Marie Thomas Lowery and Johnny McNeil; one brother, Robert “Sunny” Lowery; three sisters, Loris “Sissy” Collins, Helen “Sister” Harkless and Ruby Bush; and one son-in-law, Nathaniel Richardson.

Those left to cherish her memories and shared with her joys and sorrows of life are: her devoted husband, James Addison; her loving children, Cleo Richardson of Darlington, South Carolina, James (Carolyn) Addison of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Julie (Johnny) McNeal of Darlington, South Carolina, Wendell (Terri) Addison of Florence, South Carolina and Reggie (LaKeisha) Addison of Columbia, South Carolina; twenty-four grandchildren, Antonio, Kalaja, Coretta, Ricardo, Rikel, Ashley, Sierra, James, Jamal, Shaquan, Shaniah, William, Kelly, Nathaniel, Quinton, T Cara, Tameir, Timothy, Felicity, Jau, Cidria, Rishon, Shakeim and Antione; thirty-one great grandchildren, whom were all special to her; two adopted children, Bonnie Moses of Winston Salem, North Carolina and Wendy Hudson of Charlotte, North Carolina; three brothers, John Henry (Ellen) Thomas of Darlington, South Carolina, George (Linda) Lowery of Florence, South Carolina and Steven (Twala) Lowery of Hartsville, South Carolina; five sisters, Minister Eula Pack of Darlington, South Carolina, Lizzie (Walter) Williamson of Darlington, South Carolina, Eva Lowery of Darlington, South Carolina, Mary (Artis) Blanchette of Detroit, Michigan, and Annette (Dwight) Nettles of Summerville, South Carolina; one uncle, Albert Thomas of Darlington, South Carolina; a host of nephews; nieces; other relatives; church family and friends who meant the world to her.

Family will receive friends at 217 Brad Drive, Darlington
