Obituary For Beatrice Bell- Thompson

Beatrice Bell Thompson, a native of Mobile, Alabama and a longtime resident of Stevenson, Alabama passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019 in Stevenson, Alabama.

She was a 1965 graduate of Cedar Grove Academy and later went on to attend the Mobile State Junior College which later was renamed after Dr. Bishop (S. D. Bishop State Junior College). She worked as a teacher’s aide at Blount High School, St. Elmo High School, Caldwell Elementary, Dunbar Elementary and later to further her education at Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University. Her major was History and upon graduating, she accepted a job placement in Special Education at Stevenson High School (Stevenson, AL). The school was renamed North Jackson High School where she taught Special Education for over 30 years. She also received a Master’s degree and a AA degree in Special Education.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley Bell and Beatrice Townsend Bell, Sr., (4) brothers: Henry, Darryl, Percy and John Wesley Bell, Jr.; (1) brother-in-law, Samuel L. Jackson, Sr.; (2)nieces, LaSonja Bell King and Sheila Quinnie and (1) nephew, Samuel L. Jackson, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, (3) devoted sisters, Pearlie Mae Jackson, Mary E. Thompson and Evangelist Barbara Morrisette; (1) brother, Frank (Dorothy) Bell; (2) sisters-in-law, Catherine Bell, all of Mobile, Alabama and Joan Bell of Canton, OH; a host of nieces, (1) devoted Sandra R. Jackson of Mobile, Alabama; Cynthia (Blanchard) Clarke of Decatur, GA; Terri (Lubradette) Cunningham of Mobile, AL, Pamela Thompson of Houston, TX and Marlene Williams of Atlanta, GA; (7) nephews, (3) devoted, Frank (Winona) Porter of Nashville, TN; Cameron Williams of Troy, AL, Samuel L. Jackson, III of Mobile, AL, Brent Thompson, Harold Bell and Darryl Bell, all of Mobile and Kenneth (Priscilla) Bell of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; (4) devoted friends, Mary Wellington, Annie Jean Smith, Connie Hutchins and Princess Matthews, all of Stevenson, Alabama and her faithful decorating committee of the Morningstar Baptist Church and a host of extended family, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Her remains will lie in state on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 10am until the 11am Homegoing Celebration at the Eleventh Street COGIC (Mobile Terrace) with Elder Grady Gordon, Jr., Pastor and Officiating Minister. The Earthly bed of rest will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Mobile.

Too many memories to pick just one

I taught school with Bell for many years. My husband was her veterinarian, to0. Once she had a dog that "got raped" as she put it. She had about 8 puppies. She was not excited. I think Greg (Frank) was living with her then. She always brought a smile to your face. She was great to work with and enjoyable to be around. Kathy and Randy Smith

sister Thompson was a jewel of a member at the Morning Star Church in Stevenson, Al. I am proud to have served as her Pastor. I promoted her to Deaconess (Mother in the Church) and the Church's Secretary. She performed her duties in a very excellent way. She headed the decoration committee and keppt the church buikding looking excellent. she was faithful and fully dedicated and full of the Holy Spirit. She was a pillar in the community and church. may the family be blessed and find comfort in God's Word. We are praying for you. Rev. Dr. Isaiah Robinson.
