Obituary For Illen Alverson
Illen W. Alverson, 70, of Jonestown RD, Harrisburg transitioned into eternal life on Friday, April 12, 2019 at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital.
She was born in Beckley, WVA, daughter of the late William Wilson and Rosie Alverson Wilson. Illen is a U. S. Air Force Veteran, earned a Bachelor's Degree in Culinary Arts from La Belle Pomme Culinary Institute, a retired Executive Chef who shared her culinary delights around the world for nearly 35 years, a proud member of the American Culinary Federation; International Food Services Executives; a Certified Dietary Manager and a member of Martin Luther King Baptist Church.
Her passion was serving others through cooking or volunteering her time in the community and in her leisure, she also enjoyed reading, fishing and traveling. Illen leaves to celebrate her life, her devoted spouse, Cheryl Denise Preston and a host of other relatives, in-laws and loved ones. Her life will be celebrated on Thursday, April 18 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, 704 N. Front St., Steelton, PA with visitation 12:30 until 1:00 p.m.
