Guest Book

My sincere sympathies to all of Gwen Mitchell's family. She was a very wise, compassionate, professional person. It was my good fortune to work with her at the Department of Human Services in the 1970's. I was a newcomer to Memphis and was immediately impressed with her. She had a wonderful impact on the people working with her, and on the people the DHS serves. Although our paths did not cross often after that, she has always, and will always remain in my heart. I offer prayers for light and love to all of her family. Pan Awsumb

To the Gwendolyn Mitchell Family: I extend my condolences to the immediate family and to all who knew and loved Gwendolyn Mitchell----- on the loss of your love one. Death is not always something we are prepared for and it can be a complexity of emotion and stress when it happens. My Prayers are with the immediate and extended family. I’m leaving you with this comforting scripture.2 Corinthians 1: 3,4 (Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, (4) who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God.)

I worked with Mrs. Mitchell at the Department of Human Services for many years. She was always kind, supportive and helpful to me in my professional and personal life as well. I learned a great deal from her and had a lot of respect for her intelligence, professionalism and compassion. She touched and improved the lives of thousands in our community. She was a wonderful example of Christian love put into action to help others. Onslow Davis

I have know Gwen since the family lived in the Lemoyne Gardens many years ago. They were a very respected and loving family, and I am sure nothing changed when Gwen became an adult. I remember Gwen giving me guidance and mentoring me when I was younger, and her advice was always solid. She will be missed, but her memory will live on. I will keep the family in prayer and I offer my sincere sympathy to them.
